hello, i'm new to triumph rat and i'm hoping some one will read this and help me out. i have a 95 thunderbird and the forks are soft, real soft, i cut some pvc pipe and put in the forks to stiffin them up. it helped, it no longer bottoms out but did not help much with the feel when i'm riding, i would like to upgrade the fork spring but have had little luck finding a upgrade for my bike and i'm not sure if thunderbird sport spring will fit or if there any better. please if you can help e mail me any info will be appreciated thanks felix

You can find springs from Race Tech. You can order those at any motorcycle dealer and they have different spring rates. They are linear and another part of the group will let you know where to find progressive springs.

Well, I'm the progressive-rate spring side of the group...

I installed Progressive Suspension 11-1144 front springs with 5-7/8" PVC spacers and 20W oil.

The airspace above the oil was set at 120mm with the inner tube vertical, fully extended and the spring installed.

That gave about 3/4" of preload and required almost exactly 1 pint of oil per tube.

Since the Adventurer doesn't have damping adjustments the 20W oil stiffened it up a bit.

That got rid of the dive wihout making the ride harsh and the entire installation was about $100 including springs, oil and a couple of feet of pvc pipe from the local hardware store.

Progressively wound fork springs can be had from:

http://www.davequinnmotorcycles.com/...webc/home.html

I've just received a set along with the rear shock for my bird. They come highly recommended and I can't wait to get them installed. I didn't want to refresh one end without the other so I got both for $501 - $375 for the shock and $126 for the front springs.

BTW, Dave Quinn is in Ct - maybe you'll save on shipping. Good luck!
