I've just bought myself a new King & queen seat for my 2001 Thunderbird, but it won't fit straightaway.

It looks to me that the metal brackets on the underside of the seat are mounted 5 to 10mm further front on the new seat so that the plastic brackets on the back don't come close enough to boltmounts on the bike. It might also look like that the ditance inbetween the holes on the plastic brackets are a bit shorter on the new seat...

Any others experienced this?

Is the seat a Corbin? If it is I had a similar problem with my gunfighter. I was finally forced to resort to raising the latching bracket on the frame with some washers and then shoving it as far forward as possible. Now that I got it on once it seems to work fine...

It might be a K&Q for a Bonneville?

I had this same problem. I already had the k/q corbin on the bike just fine when I tried to install a grab rail. Then I couldn't get the seat back on. I had to raise the latch with a stack of washers. But then I couldn't get the seat off without removing the grab rail. PITA.
