looking for the absolute best polish for wheel rims. I have a 95 T-Bird and the rims have sen better days, oxidized a little and a little pitting...need to be cleaned and buffed...what do you recommend.

I'd recommend sending them to a polishing/plating house -- but the I'm getting lazy in my old age. :-D

Look for 'chrome plating' in your phone book.

The 95 has the aluminum Akront rims. They can be polished up real nice. A professional will be able to do a marvelous job for you. Professionals will be able to get much better results with the spokes removed. There is a guy in Kentucky who does spoke rim restoration. Link

He trued the rims on my TBS when he mounted my tires and I was totally amazed at the difference in the bike. They were .080 inch out both laterally and out of round, he was able to get them within .010 inch. He sends the bare rims out for polishing before relacing.

There is probably someone like this in your area.

Denny is on the money.

95's have the the Akront alloy rims and alloy engine cases - that is what makes them so ***** special!

Mother's is a good ally polish but if they are really pitted/corroded it would take a heck of a lot of elbow grease. Then a buffing wheel and Tripoli is needed and perhaps the services of a professional since there is definitely a knack, if not an art, to using a buffing wheel.

Polished aluminum is certainly prettier than chrome IMNSHO.

But, it is more work to keep it looking that way.
