Hey all,

After some searching, I was unable to find a good answer to the question:

How can I upgrade the front brake on my (wife's) 96 Adventurer? Without spending a fortune?

With the new front springs/emulators and the Hagon in the back, she is outrunning the front brake. :lgh:
Is there a better caliper that I can bolt on without changing the rotor, or do I have to go the whole nine yards?
Any input would be appretiated.

-drying off in the Pacific Northwest,
Brooke

only bolt on claiper replacements you will find are from Berringer or Harrison billet. Both will likely "break the bank".

The other (and much poorer) option is to fit some harsher pads - EBC ones are popular.

Upgrading the MC can help but really only firms up the lever.

Mick,

Thanks for the timely help. How do I find the calipers you mentioned?

Harrison are in the UK,you should be able to search on the web. I fitted the Harrison 6 pot but would also recommend upgrading the master cylinder. This is expensive so I bought a secondhand one.Kawasaki or Triumph are the same. With the Hagon suspension the bike is transformed. Also fit derestricted carb rubbers which for little money give TBS performance. Fit flatter handlebars and the performance package is complete. All worthwhile if you intend to keep the bike. Owned mine 11 years and still enjoy it.

Berringer can be bought from Jack Lilley in the UK. they do a four pot and a six pot conversion, they also do performance rotors (required for the 6 pot). Very nice but not by any means cheap - especially with the current exchange rate.

Here's a pic of a Berringer setup:

Mick,

I found them. I've dealt with Jack Lilly before - nice outfit, but...at $600 just for the four-pots, I'll just go with the agressive pads and a new rotor.

thanks!
