hey guys , i want to play with ride height by trying different length links .

manual just says raise rear end . i don't have a center stand so i'll be lifting using heavy ratchet straps . i just don't want any suprises .

question , do i want the rear tire completely off the ground when i unbolt the links or weight almost copletely off but tire still on the ground ? sorry if my question is confusing . any input would be greatly appreciated

You can do it either way, once you take the nuts off the bolts you will have to pick up the wheel and suspension a little to remove the weight off the bolts and get them out. What I have done before is if you have a floor jack for a car, raise the bike up (with your straps) enough to fit the jack under the back tire and then you can move the suspension up and down with the jack when the linkages are removed and will free up your hands when installing/removing the links. The suspension doesn't weigh a lot but when you are crawling around on your garage floor it is no use to work any harder than you have to.

thanx meanchuck , wasn't sure if i did it the wrong way i'd get a nasty SPROIIIIIING when i undid the bolts .

and now in thinking about it , i've seen many pics of bikes suspended from straps , but how the f do the get them down ? lol rachet straps only ratchet up not down . think i'll use my come-along instead .
