Howdy,

I bought a Chase Harper Magnetic tank bag. Model 750. It is a fairly small bag, but is expandable.

It came with a rather cheezy tether to attach to the steering head and snap onto the bag. There doesnt seem to be a very good place to put this becuase of the radiator.
Is this tether really neccessary, or is it one of those things the "lawyers" make them put on the bag?

Mine came with a tether too, and I don't use it. I ride pretty fast now and again, and the bag has never moved.

I bet it's a lawyer thing - although if you go on the highway, I'm willing to bet that it would be a pretty good idea to have it.

I am thinking I will just keep it in the bag for a while and if I notice the bag moving I will pull it out.

I have one for my TBS.. around town it is fine with out the teather, but filled and expanded on the highway the teather does help to hold it in place.

I wouldn't be surprised ithey start supplying tethers with every new bike they sell; a nice 20' chain and lock, so you won't get hurt riding too far.

Never heard of a magnetic bag flying off yet.

Let us know how you like the bag after you have used it a while. Can'timagine that you didn't get a Nelson-Rigg!! :-D What's wrong with you guys down there in Texas anyway?????????????? :-D :-D :-D

I have a convertable Held for touring, which I have used quite frequently. The magnets on this thing would erase a disc at ten paces.
However, I have had the bag slip once on a trip (Denali- quite reasonable as I couldn't even hold lane position in those winds) and have gotten a chest full of it twice in this little wind tunnel near where I live- 80 west at Fairfield, CA for those west coast riders. It does happen from time to time, but it's pretty rare. You should probably keep the tether in the pack anyway, because if you are carrying so much it won't fit you've overpacked. That said, I have yet to use one. It's just not in my personality to spend the extra effort.

Ah, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I LOVE Nelson-Rigg products because I USE them and abuse them daily and they don't break or rip or change, year after year. Which is why, I suppose, they offer a lifetime warranty on their better stuff. And, specifically, I like the Nelson-Rigg 950 tank bag series because it is the only mfgr that has "legs" that hold the outside magnets, so you can set them anywhere, like avoiding the logos on the Tbird tank. And they fit all four of my bikes tightly, even though they are all different tank shapes. I am sure that other mfgrs make great products, but I LOVE both my N-R tank bag and my 100% waterproof Survivor series "Daytripper." seat bag. It is poorly named because it will hold enough clothes, etc. for a week.

To each his own. Cortech? Me thinks thou jest!
