Are the catylitic converters easily removable on a 99 Adventurer?
If they are is there a sound or performance advantage?
I have not had the exhaust apart yet to see how it all goes together.

yes, you can just pull them out of the front end of the mufflers. Removing them will improve performance but wont do a huge amount for the sound level with the stock mufflers.

they were only fitted to CA spec bikes, are you sure that's what you have?

No, I'm really not sure as I haven't had the silencers off yet I was just going by the parts schematic I was looking at.

Not sure about that. My '96 Adventurer was purchsed new, in Massachusetts, and it had the CC's in the pipes.
They came right out, and removing them did not do much for sound or performance, IMO.
