My wife got me some LED underlights for Christmas. Ain't she a dear? Now I'm not really the type to run these types of lights, but they were a snap to install so I did it. I'd be interested in your thoughts, for good or bad. Is it too much?

The package said for parade use only - does anyone know if these are illegal to run on the road? My wife thought it would increase my visibility at night. Of course, I wouldn't run them on the street in the disco-techno-flash mode, just with a solid LED color.

Ahhh..tough call. I usually see these on custom choppers and HDs. I'm not sure about the legal part. I know if I see someone on the road with them on it distracts my attention.

Pretty cool conversation piece in the parking lot or having a few cool ones in the garage.

Yeah, I think of choppers or import cars for this sort of thing. I'm not sure what my wife was trying to say here. :lollol:

If anything, they make good work lights, mounted under the frame. But for on the road, I think they'd cause glare when the bike is leaned over.

I kind of like the blue. Can you show us a shot from further back so we can see the whole bike at once?

Not my thing, if someone told me about them I'd be negative, seems egotistical when I thought about it................................................ ........................................
.................BUT
They look kinda cool- the blue- I'd like to see then from about 25' away....there is something I "like" about them emotionally- just not "logically/intellectually". They might really be safer too.

TWO WORDS:

BIG - PIMPIN'!!!

Please tell us who makes them and where we can get them. I'm all about em'!!! I like the fact that you can change them.

I did the LED speedo/tach mod to blue but would love to check out the bling on the engine.

PA passed a law that took effect in September that allows you to put whatever lights you want in whatever color on your motorcycle. nullABATE/Legislation The more visibility the better. I do believe strobes are still illegal.

While wandering around the local Ollies, I came across red flexible led strips for $8 a set. I was surprised how bright they were. I bought the 4 packs they had, but haven't put them on yet. (ok, I'm embarrassed to take it to be dyno'd with all the bling on it) After the dyno in January, there will be another lit T-bird in PA.

I didn't think I'd like them, but I've changed my mind. I think they're cool. Where can I get a set?

I like 'em.

I can tell you right now they will really enhance your visible-ness(?). There are a couple of R1 types I used to see on the road who had a few choice LEDs to highlight areas of the bike. From a side view it gets you very noticed. Never seen any probs with glare either.

I think cars with them on look tacky, I think its the whole "bolt-on" customiser thing. But somehow IMHO bikes get away with it (so long as they dont look like Blackpool pier!!). And the blue does look SO COOL against chrome.

I have been considering a couple of blue LED strips mounted under the tank to put a cool glow on my black engine.

Lets all get them and start a club :-D

:upthumb: Awesome, thanks very much for that info! I feel much better about running them on the street now.

Hey now, don't you guy's try to make me into a trend setter - doh! The lights are Kuryakyn LED 7-color Lizard Lights. It is the 4-light starter pack.

I'd caution mounting anything to the tank itself. Then you'd have to disconnect them whenever you take the tank off. I mounted under the frame. But I've read of people using magnets to mount them to the tank, so there's an idea.

I'll have to get back to y'all on that larger pic. I took a couple last night, but the lights are hard to see because I forgot to turn off the flash. :hammer:
