I have been reading thru some old messages and it looks like people have been happy with the nology coils for the triples.
Does anyone have the Nology part number or some place I can order these coils? When I looked on the internet JCWhitney list 2 different nology coils for my bike and I want to make sure I am ordering the correct parts.
Thanks

From the description in Whitney it looks like their Nology coils are the 3 ohm units for Harley. I think they're also about $10 more than the Triumph parts.

What you need are the 0.6 ohm coils. The base part number is PFC-06 with a "T" suffix to match the stock Triumph wires so there's no modification required.

Somebody mentioned that in a thread recently... can't remember who or what the thread was.... sorry.

Anyhow, your best bet is to call Nology directly.

Jim

I've recently fitted the Nology Pro-fire coils to my '02 t/bird.They fitted without any modification.
The part number is PFC-06S (152 001 060).This is for the 0.6 ohm unit that suits the Triumph.
The Nology website address is: www.nology.com
They list the distributors on the site.

I don't have a triple, but i do have nology coils and wires on my speedmaster. I'm pretty much known in the twins forums for being someone who tend to feel even small differences when others don't. Yet to be honest i could not feel the slightest difference between the nologys and stock. The coils and wires together are a good buy compared to the OEM, but IMO only worth getting if the stockers go bad. I wish i had never bought them. Not sure what they'd cost for the triples, but for my twin the coils and wires together were around $250. Waste of money for me at least. I would recommend them in a nanosecond to anyone replacing bad coils. But never for someone looking for an upgrade. Just MO.

Yep! The only reason to change coils is if the stock Gill coils go bad. Unfortunately the Gills have an extremely high failure rate.

I agree that there's no performance gain between good Gills and the Nology coils.

I am looking to replace mine because they are going out and everything that I have read point to using an after market replacement.
I think my diagnosis is correct, but maybe someone one can give me their in-site. When my bike is warm, it starts missing. I had this problem a while back so I pulled and replaced the plugs and changed the battery. After that the bike ran good for a while but the problem has come back. (Everything is stock as far as I know) I am going with the theory that the coils are cutting out now that the battery is a little older and the spark plugs are no longer brand new. Does this sound like a plausible assumption?

The NOLOGY website does not list this part number. Did you have to contact them directly and specifically request that part?

Nology hasn't updated their website in years.

You'll need to give them a call with your credit card in hand.

(You might even get an 'internet discount'.) :-D
