Will the LP universal cafe fairing fit a stock Thunderbird? I am wondering if the handle bars will clear it? Also will it look OK or again do the handle bars ruin the look? I did a search on google and came up cold for images on a stock Thunderbird.

Thanks..

Tom

I believe TBSRider2000's photo album shows one fitted to a TBS?

May help?

I saw that and like it alot. That is why I am curious about it for my standard Thunderbird.

Tom,
I think the LP fairing would fit on a regular T-Bird with no problem.. I think Triumph should have made a similar fairing as an accessory for the TBS.. I'm not sure how it would look with the taller handlebars though.. Looking at your pics, nice bike!, I believe you wouldn't have a problem with clearance.

I have to say, I use my brake and clutch master cylinders to help support the windshield. It doesn't need the support structurally, but at high speeds the fairing tends to shake a bit without the added support of the master cylinders...

Dave

I checked the website and was suprised how inexpensive the item is. I think it would look great on my bike, especially in black. Actually, I'm glad Triumph didn't make it. It would cost 3 or 4 times as much.

I installed a Givi A770 on my Legend recently and like it a lot. It feels really flimsy but does a very nice job of providing a small pocket of wind break at chest level. It allows more air flow underneath than the Triumph summer screen which is good for hot weather and looks tons better.

This fairing looks fantastic on the TBS :-D , I've got one on my 98 yellow and black vs black and yellow on the 04. Like Dave says, I am basically using the clutch & brake master cylinders as supports for the screen because it gets pushed around at high speeds. I bought a couple of stick on felt pads for protecting hardwood floors from scuffs by chair legs, and put them on the fairing where it hits the master cylinders to quite things down and prevent any scuffing.

The mounting brackets that come with it are a little hokey, and I ended up buying large rubber washers to protect the headlight bracket chrome from scratchs. Maybe Dave has a better solution. I think custom brackets would be the ideal way to go but don't have any idea where to start at this point. What I would like is having a third bracket somewhere to hold the desired angle that you preset. At higher speeds, the wind forces the screen down so basically you have one adjustment angle.

There is a picture of my bike in here somewhere, I didn't have them set me up a user maintained album, but if I find the link to the picture I'll edit this message an post it.

Here it is from a bad angle. Can't really see the fairing... Want more picks, PM me with your e-mail and I'll send some to you. TBS w/Cafe Fairing (left rear)
