I took a test ride on a beautiful '99 Adventurer yesterday and really liked the bike except for one thing. The distance between the seat and footpegs was so short that my legs felt cramped. I've found a '00 Legend for about the same price but can't look at it for a couple of days and was wondering if the two bikes share the same ergonomics? Can anyone here clue me in? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the Legend has a slightly longer peg to seat distance but I doubt it would make a LOT of difference. Other than that and the bend of the bars I'd say they are pretty close.

I really didn't notice much difference between the two except that the Adventurer was much more comfortable to flat foot. Then again I'm all of 5'7" on a good day with a 30"inseam so your experience may vary

Of course I'm baised but I like the cosmetics of the Adventurer more even if finding accessories is near impossible unless you improvise (1999-2001).

Surely the Adventurer is not as low a seat height as the Legend....Is it?

The subframe on the Legend is significantly lower than the Thunderbird.

Other than that it is a matter of whether you prefer the 'American' look of the Adventurer or the 'English' look of the Legend.

Acessories are probably a little more readily available for the Legend / Thunderbird.

Doh!!!! I must confess confusion :-| , Nige is absolutely correct.

Maybe is was the shape of the seat on the Adv that had me thinking it was lower.

I shall crawl back into my newbie corner :-X

Width of the bike & seat is also an issue with reaching the ground too.

I just took about 1 1/2" out of my Moto Guzzi seat to be more comfortable with it.

I ride a legend and have had a few spins on the thunderbird and adventure.
the legend does sit lower which at 5'7" I am flat footed at a stop.the legend has a 5 speed gearbox and if I remember right the others have a 6 speed.
when I bought my legend I could have bought anyone of the bikes in the triumph line.I just fell inlove with the green paint on the legend.
