You are talking about the horizontal allen bolt, which is right next to the oil filter housing? As opposed to the larger vertically mounted allen bolt which is a little further away and which is the sump drain plug?

I have the Triumph Service Manual and it looks like it shows up in an oil circuit diagram with a torque rating of 36NM, but no explanation of what it does. Typical!

Certainly, when it comes to oil changes, the service manual only requires you to use the one sump drain plug as described above.

Well, the thought is that may of the extra plugs on the sump pans are for the oil coolers on the other T3 models. What we don't know is if you connect a cooler up if oil will actually pass through.

Anybody out there try it?

There are two, and only one will get all of the oil out of the sump. See Rick's write up at:

Webbikeworld

He explains it way better than I can. However, don't go by the description of the bolt in the hole, because my TBS has two hex bolts and no allens.

And mine has only one hex bolt...the drain plug.

As Gary stated the others are for oil cooler lines when the sumps are used with other models.

The sump on my TBS has the castings for the holes but they have not been drilled.
