I'm planning on swapping out my Mikunis for a bank of Keihins on my 98 Thunderbird.

For the time being I'd like to stick with the restricted carb rubbers (since I just bought them).

I thought I remembered reading a post on this forum that you couldn't use the Mikuni carb airbox on Keihin carbs............but I can't find the post now.

So, can anyone who has done this swap tell me if I'll be OK with the restricted rubbers and my old airbox ??

I switched from Mikunis, and kept the old airbox and the restricted rubbers.

You will need to reduce the main jet size. The #90s from the Mikunis should fit the Keihins and they work well.

Well my fiche shows the carb change occurred at VIN 62507 and a change in the airbox at VIN 71698. So I don't think they are related.

I'd always thought the only change to the airbox was they improved the chrome cover fastenings.

But I can't understand why you'd go to all the trouble of changing out the carbs and keeping the restricted rubbers. Purely IMHO, there's more value in changing the rubbers than the carbs.
