the coils are ok.

can the igniter work good on # 1 cly and weak on 2 and 3?

I have trid to do a search but I come up with topic that are not about igniter.

Each output of the ignitor can fail separately. You're looking for the new style ignitor for the classic triples. It is a small box on the front of the battery. It will have the male pins molded into the plastic housing of the ignitor. The older ignitor has a pigtail coming out of the housing with a plastic molex-style connector.

As far as I know, the same style ignitor can be interchanged between TBS, TB, and Advent.

Quoted from MickMaguire:
"for the record there were 3 (IIRC without my fiche, somebody shout if I missed one) different styles of ignitors used on the classics. The first one was in a rugged square case, the second had rounded ends but was still flat and square. Both of the first two types had a lead which plugged into the harness. The final type that Avatar has is almost identical to the Bonneville ones (pity those guys) where the harness plugged directly into a connector moulded into the unit and was an irregular shape."

Here's a pic of a replacement for the Bonneville ignitor taken from New Bonneville.com:

Your's will not say procomm on it and obviously the one in the pic will not work as it is for a twin. That is what they look like though.

Hope all this helps. Check Triumph-Ant, Sprint Manufacturing, Ebay, and Baxter Cycle for used replacements. You could even try to swap with a member in your area to confirm that it is a faulty ignitor.

Hey Ronniena, I'm sure you probably already checked them, but my 97 tbird got down to runnning on one cyclinder and it turned out to be the plug wires. I took a bore bristle brush and spun it in my drill, jammed it in the boot (mainly the plug end) and cleaned them thouroughly. It immediately corrected my problem.
It may not fix yours, but might be worth a look.

I had similar symptons that gradually got worse until the bike completely died whilst taking an off ramp on the freeway at 90 mph. Turned out to be the ignition sensor. Only took 20 min's to replace. You can get one from your dealer or from here for about 70 bucks.
