Have you ever noticed how even a bad ride turns into a good ride when its all said and done? Riding a motorcycle is like sex. Even bad sex is good.

Today I was riding on a washboard two-lane hi way through Nebraska. The road was nonstop semi trucks, the wind was blowing at about 30 mph, rain was poring down and blowing horizontally, and lightning was striking periodically in the distance. I only had about thirty more miles to go, so I kept on riding. (What else was I going to do in the middle of Nebraska, hide in a cornfield.)

I was a little concerned the whole way home, but after I dried off and grabbed a beer, I said to myself, "***** that was an exciting ride." I don't think I'd like to experience it again, but once was pretty cool.

I'll bet everyone has at least one bad ride story, so how about sharing. I'd love to hear them.

.....Most recently I road with fire fighters to ground zero on 9/11. While there my borthers harley got stolen along with a chopper. It was a total bummer and to make matters worse rain was heading east.

On the way from NJ to Ohio it pissed pretty good, but now that I look back it was all and all the adventurer I was looking for. There were a number of issues that had to be over come during the trip but a bad day on the road is better then a good day working.

At least thats how I look at it.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

The first time I attempted an IronButt SS1000 ride, we got about 1/4 the way into it and hit the worst storm I've even seen in my entire life (barring a hurricane)...let alone rode in. Middle of no-tree-having Oklahoma, lightning literally touching ground all around us, water flooded up to my ankles, no visibility. Still, we kept riding because there was no where to pull over. The ride leader drove off the road, we we're completely drenched (and freezing now). Finally, the first gas station we hit had a little flea bag motel across the street. Ride aborted. Next morning, woke up to a dead battery. One of those "fun to tell" later stories that wasn't worth a ***** while it was happening.

I was stationed at Altus, OK, for two long years. Oklahoma has the worst thunderstorms I've ever seen. It seems like every storm turns into a tornado. That had to be a crazy ride.
