Hi,
The front forks and lower yoke of my t/b are looking rough and in need of some attention. In various places corrosion has set in on the alloy and it is creeping along underneath the clear coat. This has happened on the front of the forks so it probably started as stone chip damage.
I'm wondering what would be the best way to remove the clear coat so that I can polish the alloy.
Would paint stripper damage the alloy?.
BTW, I've found that Autosol gives great results on bare alloy. Not that seeing my ugly face in the reflection improves my day at all.

Other Motorcycle: Can't afford two!
Extra Motorcycle: Three would be insane
Most stippers will say if they are suitable for aluminum or not (a great many aren't). Another option is to use brute force and steel wool.

Autosol rocks

They make a stripper for aircraft.
I swear the can I had was simply called "Aircraft Stripper" but maybe my memory is failing. I needed to strip some aluminum wheels and the stuff worked great. I got it at an automotive paint store.

Thanks fellas,
Got some stripper thats on the mild side. Will make sure I don't leave it on too long, then it won't munch on the alloy.
