Well I loaned my son my T-Bird over the summer. Apparently it sat the entire summer and now that I have it back I'm having some real issues trying to get her to start. I drained the gas tank, put in fresh gas with carb cleaner. I can get it to turn over a bit not not enough to start, she seems like she wants to though.

Any suggestions on where to start?

Thanks Mike!

Get the battery on a charger or a new one. Make sure your pulling in the clutch.

If that's not working make sure your getting fuel and spark.

Good luck

If it sat for the summer with fuel in the carbs, then you've got some carb cleaning ahead of you -- especially if the fuel petcock was left on.

I agree with jimmyj900
The carbs will have old gas in them and may need cleaning.
Emptying the tank and filling with new gas is not enough.

use the drain screws (bottom of each carb float bowl) to get the old stuff out of the carbs. Pull the plugs and give them a clean. Put a new battery in then try again. If that doesnt cure it you will most likely be into cleaning the carbs as previously mentioned.

Yep you'll need a fresh battery or a good powerpack startbooster I was told by my local Triumph shop that not only does a Triple need power to turn but also plenty of battery power to ignite so a half dead battery wont do you any good.

My old 65 Tiger 100 needed a good blow of deodorant spray into the airfilter after a long winter but I wont recommend that to a T Bird haha

I had same problem I thought it was turning over good enough but it takes more than you think. new battery, plugs and then I'd go for the carbs but these guys are great on this site about getting these bikes going. good luck.

one would hope that after nearly a year Onlinemike66 would have the issue solved, you might be a little late in your sentiment TwinVee2

I think you can safely say that any post on page-2 and beyond is history.
