Hermys has 2 types of knee pads. One is sort of Beveled and the other is flatter looking- (there is a $9 diff also) is one more "correct" than the other for my tbs?
hermys

knee pad comments??
I ordered the cheap one (cheap??) FLAT one- but willing to saee if I can change if one is more "authentic" if that's the word.

Other Motorcycle: I wish!
I have never considered one to be more 'correct' than the other.

I had to go look which ones I have on my TBS and they happen to be the cheaper of the two.
Nothing to do with me being a tight-a*se at all.

I don't know if there is a more 'authentic' one. . .

The guy I bought my TBS from had a pair installed by the dealer, and they put the cheaper pair on:

Which I've removed, and PM'd you about, if you want em.

Neither is more correct and I have seen both. I actually ordered the raised (beveled) one and got the flat ones. The correct ones were shipped to me to fix and I have a "spare" set of Flat ones.
I actually had to pay $20.00 Can. for "brokerage" at the border.
Strange though, beveled cheaper at British Customs.

Scroll to Bottom of page.

I will sell my extras if someone is interested.

I think it's definitely a personal taste issue. I happen to like the flatter ones better, but I haven't gotten around to buying any yet.

My TB and CB never had any, I don't particularly like them. I cover the knee part of the tank along its curvature with a tough clear film. Initially it shows the remains of the glue but it disappears within a couple of weeks, especially parking in the sun, leaving behind a completely invisible protective film.

I use ScuffProof made by SportsPro Racing an Auckland company but 3M have something similar and it is also a Honda accessory part.

It protects the paint surface, Honda has softer paint and necessary and my TB tank is like new.

If you wanted pads for grip then that is something else again.

I swapped from the stock flat ones to sculpted. I preferred the look but functionally like the more "grippy" design of the scultped ones

How easy do they come off? I've been thinking about slapping a pair on mine, but am a little concerned that I won't like them.

I called the local triumph dealer who installed the ones on the bike I bought used, and they said a hair dryer would warm it up enough to come off clean.

I dind't even need that, just a fingernail behind the rubber, and a pull, and they popped right off. What glue was left was very rubberized, and peeed off in one big sheet, left no marks whatsoever. The whole process took me about 5 minutes.
