How many of you guys have finally got fed up cleaning those spokes and having to use inner tubes on the TBS and fitted new spokeless ones? Just wondering if there is a big range of options and at what price. Any resale value on the originals?

Cheers,

Martin

Other Motorcycle: Can't afford two!
Extra Motorcycle: Three would be insane
I fitted wheels from a Kawasaki ZRX1200R, but also swapped the whole front end at the same time. I liked the look of the spokes but wanted a more modern look, reduced weight, much improved brakes and a wider rear rim (17" rims are a big plus too). :-D

Mick, I appologize for hijacking the thread but how much modifying did you have to do to get the cast (tubeless) wheels to fit?

I got fed up of cleaning and having a poor choice of tires.

I did fit a Daytona or Trophy pair of mags. Extra material needed was a disc for the rear brake and cutting a spacer for the front wheel.

What rear disc did you get? and from where?

Are the front discs from the TBS or the new wheel?

Details on the spacer for the front wheel would be appreciated.

The rear disc is from Sprint Manufacturing. It is the right size for the TBS caliper but has the fitting for the wheel. I wanted to be able to go back to the spoke wheels on Sundays. (Which by now, I don't want to do)

The front discs are from the mag wheels, you need the wheel and the disc, TBS discs will not fit. Some Sprint, some older Daytona and some Trophy wheel and discs can be use.

Finally for the wheel to fit, you need to cut the spacer that is on the right side when facing the bike. I do not remember the lenght but here is a picture for you to see.

Both look great with the mag's. I've spent an hour or so looking for a couple of used Trophy or Daytona wheels to no avail. New it's going to cost nearly $1500 before tyres

Mick mounted Kawasaki wheels and also has a great look. That is why I was curious about the difficulty of the fit. You can find a set of Kawa wheels for about half that.

I'm with you Flybiker, I'd like to know if the Kwacker wheels will be a straight swap for my original '98 spokes. If so, that looks like it woulld be the way to go.

Cheers,

Martin

How about alloys on a Legend? It already has the 17" wheels but the spokes loads of work? If the kwak wheels are a simple swap I'd imagine there will be quite a run on them they look v. cool.
