Guys -
Im in a bad position here. I went out for a ride with the bike, came home and swapped out for 4 wheels (have a girlfriend in a leg-immobilizer, cant ride on the bike).
Anyway, I returned the next day to find out that my keys for my 98 TBS were missing. When I bought the bike, it only came with one. Aside from turning the house inside out (did that twice) I need some help with what to do. Can you easily replace the keyed ignition switch on these bikes? Has anyone else ever had this problem?

From what I understand you can order new keys IF you have the code that came with the set. I assume you don't have the code so try asking a locksmith. Your ignition and seat lock stock are keyed alike so if one can be recreated then you should be OK.

I had to replace the ignition switch on my 98 a few years back and have different keys for those locks now. Hopefully thats not the case. IMHO the ignition switch and seat lock have got to be more expensive than a locksmith.

Will the idiot that decided the industry should destroy the spare keys for used vehicles please stand up!

A friend of my ran into this same situation with his 96 Sprint. He eventually found the extra key. But before doing so he spoke with the Triumph dealer who quoted about $400 to get the ignition and seat lock replaced. Ouch. Good luck!

What about going to the dealer with your VIN and registration papers?
