I'm curious if anyone knows how many TBSes were imported into the US in any given year. For obvious reasons, I'm particularly curious about red/black 1998s, but knowing the numbers in general would be cool.

The numbers are not published by Triumph as far as I know and hear.

Mick wasn't kidding. No body knows. At least no one has posted anything showing real data on the topic. I would LOVE to find out how many of my bike came out because it couldn't be that many in retrospect.
I would love to have actual data to show why my bike is so unique but ...I don't think were going to get it.
Ask a dealer maybe??

jacked this from another forum:
From Motorcycle Consumer News
U.S. Motorcycle Sales:
2004 sales (U.S.)
H-D 244,565
Honda 264,138
Victory 4171
Buell 5529
BMW 13,369
Triumph 7533
Ducati 5136
Kawasaki 87,591
Suzuki 115,664
Yamaha 149,523
You could probably assume that Triumph sold a lot fewer bikes in 98 since they had only been importing them again for a few years. Also, out of the whole line-up, only a fraction of those would be tbird sports. (I'm curious, I'll keep digging)
Also, from "powersports business":
Sales for Triumph America's 12 months ended Dec. 31, 2005, totaled 8,407 units, up 12 percent from the 7,500 units retailed in the United States in 2004.

I'd hope that we don't have to wait for them to go belly up again. I'm assuming that's how the information about the pre-Hinckley bikes became public. If not, where the heck did that information come from?
When I bought my 98 new the figure of 350 units worldwide was commonly posted. That same value has been associated to several of the other years of production.
My fellow TBS owner and RAT, Wombat, suggested a year or so ago to start a registry, like the pre-Hinks, to determine these numbers. It may be the only way we can find out without the secret password.

I am still prepared to compile the registry if anyone is interested.
If interested, send me by email or PM the following info:
Model:
Year:
Colour(Color):
Last 6 digits of the VIN:
Your Location:
Your name:
With this info, details of how many of what model were made and sent where, can be estimated.
