2004 TBS:

First of all- WOW I love it! But I do have a few questions

SHIFTING: sometimes when I downshift I don't get down a gear till I really remove my foot totally and push the lever down- like the throw is a little long or not "clean" or I'm not lifting my foot enough between gears? related- I think I rest my foot too far foward maybe and drop a gear occasionally without meaning to. In a way two opposite problems... ANY shifting comments?...( I like the extra gear!!)

Ride: I feel like there is a flat spot at about 3000rpm- if I'm at steady throttle around there the power seems to deaden some-even sound weird-almost a racing-slipping sound. No problem flying THROUGH 3grand!!

I don't know how the original owner drove- I've put almost 200 miles on- already it sounds looser-louder. It has 2179 miles on it.- Stock exhaust etc... (maybe it wants air and fuel- please tell me to get offroadpipes and re-jet- only kidding- no mods for a while)
Thanks for any input...

Hey NEWBY- try searching before you ask such well covered questions. :hammer:

TB's (you would have found out) require sure-footed shifting. They also tend to smooth out after a few thgousand miles.
Re: the buzzy flat at 300rpms - this too is fairly common.

Stop worrying, enjoy the bike and search before asking-

Don't stress. The search function isn't that great, since anything halfway common clips at 100 results.

Yeah, like you say, the way downshifting ratchets requires you to come back up to near-neutral after every shift. Upshifting does, too, but doesn't come up as much that way. I do find that the shift between 5th and 6th is occasionally a little dodgy--not quite a false neutral, but it doesn't always feel solid either.

And yeah, everyone gets the 3k buzz. It's a resonance vibration of some kind--when I'm wearing thin boots, I can feel it through the pegs.

You've got to fully release the lever and let it return. A lot of folks have had trouble with that.

Just think of it as a mark of fine British precision and craftmanship -- it lacks the slop space of the rice bikes! :-D

yeah- I sort found that to be truer- though I did get some answers to my questions-I found that if I clicked the "topic" column rather than the "forum" I got more specific info but basically the search function is really lame (there- I avoided profanity!)

So- having said all that- anything to add to my questions? Today I found the 5 to neutral shift- real annoying!

Rick, I'm a kinda newb and I can vouch for the fact that "search" does su**.

That being said, this site has probably saved me hundreds of dollars in wrenching that I can do myself.
