Bodger, did you read that article? There's no reason to assume road camber has anything to do with your tire wear, unless you're riding in the Wall of Death show at the Fair, or you're riding with no air in your front tire. It's the DISTANCE your tire actually travels while riding under normal conditions. Right turns in England take more asphalt, Left turns in America. :-D p.s. "offset" is the angle of fork tubes in relation to steering head stem, "alignment" is the position of wheels relative to one another. Un-aligned tires will not result in wear on oneside or another, but will probably result in wearing the paint off one side of the tank and probably some skin off your body, (or at least your leathers). hope this doesn't happen! :wink:

Thats the second time you have told me that and it's incorrect!

"offset" is the distance between the fork tubes and the steering stem.

"rake" is the angle of the forks in relation to the steering stem.

P.S Its my fault i shouldn't have put offset in the title, i should have put bias perhaps.

Thanks I stand corrected! I was shortcutting a long discussion of the effect of offset in turn angle, and tire wear as result. thats what your question was originally about. hope your tire wear question was clarified by the article. If not, just believe in the road camber fairy tale and you'll need a new tire anyways. Happy Motoring, I love my Thunderbird! :-D

Its a good informative article and i have to admit, not knowing all the causes of tyre wear, i got worried that i might have done something stupid. But like you said, if the geometry etc, was that much out, i would be on me butt in the middle of the road.
The theory of chucking half a ton of bike and me around the right turn and a force of about 1G on two inches of rubber compound is much more compelling than road camber. Especially as the wear is a good deal to the right of centre. indeed if the camber has anything to do with wear it would be just of centre due to the angles involved.

Well i can't afford a new set of Avon's right now, so I've got some used Pirelli track day tyres on for the rest of the season.
