The general consensus on the T300 series bikes is that they are pretty solid machines. Personally, I think the TBirds are great machines and real fun to ride.

Unfortunately I've not been especially lucky with mine, as my '02 TBird had a circlip in the gearbox fail at just 4,500 miles which required an major engine tear down to fix (under warranty). I then traded the '02 and bought a 'last of line' '04 Tbird as a keeper. However having run really well for the past two years, with just 9,000 miles up, it suddenly started puffing out blue smoke and oil-fouling the plug in #3 cylinder. I was less than happy with my Triumph ownership experience - especially as the bike was now a couple of months out of warranty and I could be facing a hefty repair bill.

My local dealer identified a split valve stem oil seal as the faulty component and approached Triumph for them to deal with it as a warranty claim as there is no way this type of component should fail so early. As a precaution, they changed out all 12 seals while the head was off.

The good news is that Triumph stepped up to the mark and met the repair costs in full - both parts and labour. I accept that I've been a bit unlucky with these two bikes, but I'm happy to report that Triumph agreed to meet the costs and keep me as a customer. Obviously I would have been happier still if the bike hadn't needed any work, but it is good to know that they do treat each case on its merits and don't walk away from problems. It does underline the value in having a good dealer too. I have bought several bikes from the same place for many years now and with this kind of service, I'll certainly continue to do the same.

Although perhaps unlucky, you have been fortunate to have a worthwhile dealer who possibly has some sway with the factory.

My experience with the Triumph factory, I found less than impressive TBH!

I would stick with that dealer if they can get things done under favourable terms!

Have you ever wondered how many Triumph owners are on this site and how many haven't had problems?

Most of what we see here are posts by folks WITH problems.

Good point Jimmy, when things are going well people just ride and enjoy themselves (and dont post a word)but since Bikes are a very "emotional" thing when you have problems they seem 10x worse than they really are.

All the problems I've had have been caused by my meddling with the it, lol. What tests my brand loyalty is the cost of replacement parts.

Jodel, Who is your dealer. If you think they are that good i think you should name them and pass on the good news.

I have had mostly good experience with Jack Lilley and occaisionally so-so but never bad. I keep going back even tho there are 3 Triumph dealers way closer to my home in East London.

Glad it all got sorted ok for you without costing you.

Wayne

I've got two or three dealers closer to me but I still use Jack Lilley as I've found them the best for spares and really helpful over the phone when I've had problems

I've only dealt with Jack Lilley via the telephone, but like the others, my experience with them has also been positive.

To answer your point Wayne, my own dealer is:Two Wheels. Have dealt with these guys for years and have had good friendly service & support from them.
