Seems my #1 son rubbed his bike tire up against my hot silencer. I didn't notice it until today. It has left a black smear on the pipe. I have tried a few things from the house to no avail. Any helpfull hints???

Ride the bike nice and hot. Any smears will come off easily when the pipes are hot.

I've typically used oven cleaner to good effect.

I've also used oven cleaner (while hot) to remove boot rubber. Be careful not to overspray it elsewhere though. Kinda causes more problems.

I have used Pro-Honda's metal polisher and cleaner to remove most all the marks from my pipes and wheels. Works great. I bought it at al Honda bike shop.
