I've had really good luck with the bike in spite of being a bit careless about maintenance.

I had lots of strange starting/running problems that ended up being coil-related. I think I bought 4 more coils from the dealer with only temporary improvement. Finally I got 3 new coils from Sprint Manufacturing, who had the German ones, and no more trouble for the last 10K miles.

Anyone who needs accessories like luggage racks should also see Sprint Manufacturing.

Recently I've been having trouble with the fuse box under the seat. The contacts where the fuses plug in have been breaking off. I think they are brittle or something. Does anyone else have this problem? I can't see replacing the wiring harness, which I think would be required, so I will probably cut out the fuse box and add aftermarket fuseholders.

My overheat light flickers. I ignore it.

It drips oil, I assume out of the airbox. I've had Triumphs for 36 years, so this is comforting.

I made some thumbscrew things for the seat mount which work real well.

Mostly I just ride it.

They are made to ride, I'm glad you are enjoying yours. I have a 2000 and have been lucky enough to miss the dreaded coil issue. I also have not had the issue with the fuse box you mention, I don't recall seeing a lot about that on this forum. Not sure what to tell you other than enjoy your ride.

hahahah, that's a hell of a statement!!

For the oil your seeing you might want to check to see if the over flow tube needs to be opened.

Sometimes a drip can happen because oil or gas gets into the air box due to flooding or the oil level being over filled during its last oil change.

The drip will come of the left side behind the panel. There should be a hanging over flow tube that is between the rear wheel and the shock.....it will have a rubber stopper plugged into it, pull that out and let the airbox empty, then plug it in and it might relieve the amount of fluid in your airbox.

Then again, if it's that comforting, leave it drip! That's old school!

:hihi:

Another possibility causing the oil drip is overfilling. The Haynes manual and I believe the Triumph manual have misprints. They say 4 liters but it only takes 3.75.
4 liters will have you overfull by like 5-6 ounces.
Never heard anything before about the fuse box.
