Due to a recent flat tire I took the rear wheel off to get the tube replaced as there was no visible hole or problem with the actual tire. I figured that there was no better time to clean the chain. After cleaning the chain thoroughly I discovered a potential issue.

One (and only one as I checked them all) of the pins does not have full range of movement. It has only about 45 degrees of movement. It does seem to operate properly once on the bike and properly tensioned.

Being my first chain driven motorcycle, I'm unsure if it is a great danger or not. The bike has 14,000 miles on it, I don't know (but suspect) that it is the original chain. I've only put about 1,000 miles on the bike myself and have lubed it three times. I know it's probably about time to change the chain anyway but if I could hold off for a while that would be preferable. Other than that the chain seems fine. The rear sprocket looks great as well.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Keep it well lubed and it should be OK for a while.

When you do replace the chain, I would check the front sprocket too. If either sprocket is worn I would suggest replacing as a set.
