The most excellent gentleman TBSstunta tipped me about JB Weld....so I went off and found a similar product over here!

I went at the hanger with pretty much all of this stuff I could get my hands on (..not really). After 5 minutes it was holding together...after 2 hours I could probably have thrown the hanger into a brick wall and it still would have held together. Being a man of precaution I wasn't satisfied so I wound 2000 rounds of ductape around it as well.... :-D
Ain't nothing around a little ductape can't handle! :upthumb:

Put the hanger on the bike and everything seems to be in excellent order. It won't last an eternity...but if it holds up for a week or two I'll be laughing!

EDIT: No matter how ingenious my previous ghetto fix was..I wasn't entirely pleased with it...the gap between my creation and the shift pedal was just too big for it to be a tip top
solution.

Anyhoooo...I'm off to a barbecue!! :flam:

JBWeld is a great product, but the tensile strenght is not enough to last forever. You can probably take that to a metal fabrication shop that welds aluminum and they can fix you right up, a little black paint and you'll be good as new.

On second thought I doubt that is aluminum, probably cast steel, you can check with a magnet. That would make it even easier to find someone to weld it back together and it would probably be stronger than it was when new.

It's aluminum, or an alloy thereof.

Be careful how much weight you put on it Spooner. I think I wouldnt trust JB weld / plastic padding (or whatever it was you used) to withstand standing on the pegs over bumps.

I shall dance like a butterfly and sting like a bee! :upthumb:

I should have my rearsets by the end of next week so if it holds up for a week
I'm more than pleased!
