I have a '95 Tbird with a 5-speed tranny in it. Does anyone know if you can replace the 5-speed with the newer 6-speed tranny?

It's been done...but it seems to be quite a nightmare..

Here's a detailed description of how it's done.

I've thought about doing it myself a couple of times...

I'm happy to have a 6-speed model, but in reality there isn't a whole lot of difference between 5th and 6th gears. At highway speeds, 6th speed drops the revs only slightly, like maybe 500 RPM's or so.

Great information! It looks like I will keep the 5-speed but I sure miss the 48 MPG I was getting on my T-Sport! Now I can get 37 MPG if I'm careful.

Other Motorcycle: I wish!
I would doubt that the extra gear alone would make that much of a difference.

You could always go to different sized sprockets. However, IIRC the lower mileage for the earlier Tbirds was primarily due to the carbs.
