I just had my 96 'Bird starter rebuilt by an old reputable company near my home town. one day turnaround, 95.00.
good deal? note: the armature did not have to be rewound, but brushes bearing seal etc. was done.

I've rebuilt motors and that sounds like a reasonable price for the service and turnaround -- certainly better than the Triumph replacement option!

You got a good deal! :-D

I was lucky and found a used one for about $60 usd and have intentions of rebuilding my original one this winter. I would gladly have paid $95 after finding out the factory replacement price.
