Have you replaced a lamp or two in the speedo?

If you install the wrong lamp (2.0 Watt vs. 1.2 Watt) you may have melted the plastic parts inside the speedo. I hope that's not the case!

The Triumph part numbers should be:

T2500097 (2.0 Watt)
T2500098 (1.2 Watt)

The speedo on my Adventurer uses two different sizes of lamps one is a 10mm (T3-1/4) and the other is a 5mm (T1-1/2) and I believe those correspond to the Triumph T2500097 (2.0 Watt) and T2500098 (1.2 Watt) parts.

I did a bit of research and have put together a table of wedge base lamps (my photo album -- clicky below) in the correct voltage range for Triumphs, but there appears to be no direct translation between industry standard lamps and Triumph parts!

Triumph specifies T2500097 (2.0 Watt) and T2500098 (1.2 Watt) but these wattages don't match up with the data I found, so I'm figuring that Triumph is rating the 14V lamps at 12V which could result in the difference in figures.

Anyhow figuring that the 194, 168 and 124 lamps are excessive, I'd go for a 161 or 158 lamp for the 10mm one and probably an HR73 for the 5mm lamp.

Your best (safest!) bet is to purchase the lamps you need from a Triumph dealer.

Jim
