i'm buying the tbs '04 after much thought and research between the t100 and tbs. I wanted to know what i should have the dealer install before delivery. I will be getting the silencer and tank knee pads. Anything else i should be looking into? Seat? Horn? Thanks.

The bike will be great as is, but with the price of gas you may want to ask if your dealer can deliver it with a full tank.

Congratulations!,

If you can afford it I would recommend the offroad pipes for sure. Another nice thing might be a center stand for easiler chain maintenance.

By the way..excellent decision!

Welcome aboard. I second the center stand. The rest of the stuff can wait until you figure out how you are going to use the bike: way you ride; length of trips, etc. will determine if you want a windscreen, what type; a sissy bar, etc.

Welcome and great decision.. The TBS is pretty much great as is.. You will want extra sound. The Triumph Off Roads are great, but most any slip-on muffler with a 1 1/2" inlet will work..

I've had mine for 4 years now and one thing I wish I had is the sissybar / luggage rack combo. I have a set of Tourmaster saddlebags that work great. Other than that, my TBS has served me well with almost 30,000 miles of all types of riding, from long trips to hitting the twisties, to just riding back and forth to work..

Hmmm...

I have been under the impression that the balance pipe precludes putting a center stand on an '04 TBS. I went out and got a Steel Horse rear stand for chain lube and adjustment. Then I went over the top and got a Scottoiller which was probably the smartest thing I have added to my '04 TBS. Also added a summer screen. Bike as currently configured is in the members photos section (page 10, I think).

Been thinking about them off-road pipes, but I don't want to have to put knobbys on, too.

i was told they don't make a center stand for the '04... thanks for the suggestions... i think the sissy bar/luggage rack is probably a good idea as well. How do you suggest i secure my helmet? I don't want to carry it around! Any ideas about the horn? Is it really "anemic?" Anybody in NYC area?[*]null

Congrat's on the purchase and enjoy

I was told the '04 TBS can not accept a center stand. If you shed some light on this, I may try to get one fitted.

One other question, do the off-road pipes effect the 2 year Triumph Warranty?

Thanks

Hi,

I have an '02 T'Bird and I fitted a grabrail and a centre stand. The centre stand is highly recommended as it makes cleaning and maintenance a whole lot easier. I don't see why you should have any trouble fitting it.

One thing I have noted in the Haynes manual the centre stand is shown as being fitted with two nuts and bolts. On mine, official Triumph part, it fits on a long pin which replaces an existing shorter one. The kit comes with complete easy to follow instructions. Always helps to have a mate to assist though.

Enjoy your bike, good decision.

PS forgot to say that you have to remove the exhaust system to fit the centrestand.
