I just installed my race tech springs in the legend. While disassembling the forks I found progressively wound springs in each leg! I thought that only the old T-Birds ( 95-98ish? ) had progressive springs in them. Interesting, no? Did the 01 Legends come with progressive springs?

By the way, the old fork oil was purple! Weird, indeed.

I recently replaced the fork oil in my 97TB for the fist time, the original oil was red.

The standard springs that I took out were non progressive that is the coils have the same spacing pitch all the way down.

In one of the legs the washer that sits between the spring and the top spacer tube was missing. Since the forks had not been opened up from new someone in the factory (in Japan) must have forgot to put it in.

Got a new washer by post from Jack Lilley in under 3 days - very good service !

When I changed the fork oil for the first time, I found completely different oil levels in each leg.

Maybe they assemble forks on Friday afternoons ( after a lunchtime session down the pub). :???:

My 2k TBird legs had progressive springs from new. there was at least 1 change point in the design of the front forks and 1 change of manufacturer so differences between the years is to be expected even if they all look the sameon the outside. Color of the fork oil means very little.
