Has anyone ever tried to fit and old school style sissy bar on a Thunderbird? Something like this - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Unive...spagenameZWD1V

Only thing you shoudl have to do is drill it for where the fender rails bolt to the subframe, and since the railes aren't really structural in nature you could use smaller bolts.

Not that one but I did this to my Adventurer:
There's more pics in my album if you want to see more.

Why would you want to? Personally I think it would take away from the style of the bike. But, to each his own. Hence my motto.

Hey Dave - Where did you get yours? I see a KG Engineering sticker, Woonsocket RI on the bracket; can i assume that you had the bar fabricated?

The triumph sissy bar with rack is $300+, and the back pad is far to low to be of any use. Matter of fact i would think that if you were to get even slightly bumped from behind you would snap a vertebrae. Besides if i wanted to spend my time ordering from a catalog, or bolting on accessories I would be riding a Harley.

Nope it's KG engineering. nfortunately they're out of business. I had to modify the holes a little to make them line up correctly, but that was nothing a dremel couldn't handle.

If you search on E-bay you can ussually find something of theirs, most of the bracket should be easily modified. The one I have came off of a 400 Kwak or Suzuki. I paid $40 for the whole set up.

The only problem I've had is one of the saddle bracket posts keeps breaking because of its contact with the sissy bar bracket.
