Are there any current Adventurer owners that have the saddle bag supports installed (either Triumph factory or aftermarket) that can take some good pics of their mounting and clearance?

Measurements would be really cool too I'm feeling inspired to fab up the supports and some sissy bar brackets.

Thanks guys,
Rich

I can take pics and measurements for you but not until next week (taking off on vacation early tomorrow).

I am very interested in a Sissy bar for my '96 Adventurer as well. The only Caveat may be that I believe there were a bunch of changes around the 1999 model year. Anyone know if this area of the bike changed?

I'll check back next Sat/Sun to see how this thread is progressing.

Cheers!

Shawn, thanks for the heads up!

Dhall, we'll have to compare notes :-D

Trumpet4Years, if you could that would be fantastic! I'm interested in the drop from mounting bolts to the bottom edge and also the overall length. The stand-off distance from the mounting tot he outer edge of the guards would also be very helpful.

I did see a set of saddle bags that had padded 'J' hooks that were made of approx 1" wide flat plastic instead of wire that I thought could hook well the the lip of the fender without causing much if any damage but can't find the link again. Without the supports it doesn't look like many of the aftermarket saddle bags will work well :???:

Rails made for an Adventurer will not fit your Thunderbird Shedds. The good news is that for you the rails you need are available for purchase seperately from the bags, ask your Triumph dealer.

Well, what I did for my old FXRS Sport was build some custom ones using 6mm stainless bar.

I would have gone for 8mm but that would have been trickier to bend sucessfully.

I did a mock up with wooden blocks for the mounts & wire coat hangers to find the form that I needed.

Worked a treat!

I have an 01 and biught supports from J&P my buddy rides a HD and the ones he had we tried on mine and they fit perfect. The product # was 8400040 fits a 5 speed soft tail for 44.99. I don't know if that will help but it's worth a shot. Let me know if anyone comes up with a good plan for a sissy bar. I think we all know there are about as rare as dodo birds!!!!!

Matt, thanks for the heads up. If these pan out I'll just jump to the sissy bar brackets or the bar itself.

Have you had any issues with clearance of the rear caliper mount or swing arm ... or anything else for that matter?

Ballacraine, that's where I was heading with the size of the stock. I have polishing equipment now so I figured SS would be the best best as it can polish up nice and can be sealed. I'd rather work at polishing the bar than pay for chroming.
