Hello!

Am I the only Swede in the world riding a Thunderbird?
Perhaps my bird ist the northest one too? I bought mine by some old man from Pajala, North Sweden (do a little latitude-sailing westward, and You'll end up in north Canada!) and even if my current location is about 500km south of there, I feel quite alone/unique on my machine.

There are a few '50s Triumphs around here, and I get lots of comments from oldtimers who obviously don't know Triumph still exist. I have to explain the whole story again and again...

Apart from having to change the spark plugs to get out on my first ride (previous owner obviously just put it in the garage all long winter and left it there until I showed up... oh what a mess...) I must say I am pleased beyond belief! Great looks, great feel, seems reliable too! Just have to do something about the exhaust pipes - all I hear is the mechanical sounds from the engine! At least my neighbors are happy... :-)

I work as a lecturer, so I have six weeks in a row of vacation in summer, and I will spend all of it roaming Scandinavia. (or at least Sweden and Finland) My oh-so-boring four-wheel thing will not move at all until september!

I just spent a few days looking around here in this forum and found lots of good-to-know things! So... I just want to say;
Thank you, folks! Ride with style and smile! (I haven't been able to get this silly grin out of my face since I hit the road a few weeks ago... )

Wonderful to have you with us, Rotwang. It wouldn't surprise me at all if you were the northernmost member of this sometimes illustrous group. Hope you enjoy your Tbird as much as I am enjoying mine.

Post a few pics when you get a chance.

Hello,
and thank you all for such a nice welcome!

I also posted a few images of my Bird in an own Member-album!
Also, there are images of my ideas for saddlebags. As I mentioned, there will be a six week nomadic vacation...
I'm not into studs and stuff, I want it clean and simple. Preferrably brown, as I think it would look better on my green/champagne bike. I have a pair of small leather pouches, originally containing dial-sets for swedish army field telephone m/37, which got the right look but wrong size...
My plan is to let a leather craftsman make a pair for me in the same fashion. A little photoshopping resulted in a picture what it would look like. Exactly what I want!
There is a sissy/luggage rack on its way too. I figured that sissy would be a nice thing because when my grandma realised I had got a Triumph, she threatened not to talk to me again if I wouldn't take her for a ride... :-D And I want to make shure the little lady doesn't fall off...

Then I've lost my first bolt...
I explored a few unexplored small roads in the rural areas northwest from here, and... damn, they were bumpy! Now one of the bolts holding my left cooler side-plate is missing. I went over the bike with a hex bit, tightened everything up to make sure I won't lose more parts...

The weather last week was excellent. Excellent for this time of the year in this part of the world... +16C at 23:30! I spent most of my free awake time as well as lunch outdoors... Now it's back to normal; +5C at noon, but that won't keep me from driving... An extra layer of underwear and it's all okay.

Then, I wonder one more thing...
A motorcycle, is it a he or a she?
I still wonder what to call it. If it's a she, it will be "Lucrezia"...

Keep flying low!

You still got snow on the ground where you are, from your photo?

Ride safe

Thanks, Bob!
Then it's "Lucrezia" (actually, my grandmas' 2nd name...)

Yes, it is snow in the back of the picture!
Right here in my neighborhood it's gone now, but you may still find spots of snow in shady places.

It was actually snowing this morning! :-/
Thank heavens it melted away just as it hit the ground...
