Haven't got my '99 Adventurer yet, but from the pics I have seen, it appears the side stand "footing" is pretty narrow. Have you guys experianced any problems with it sinking into the pavement? (more than usual)
I have the chrome one. On my other bikes, I always carried a octogon electrical box cover in my back pocket.

thanks!
Joe

I think they all have very small footprint and they sink into asphalt very fast. My Tbird does. So I carry a "Cycle Foot" in my tank bag and use it all the time. It is a little 3x5" piece of bright orange plastic shaped like a little foot - complete with toes! The advantage over anything metal is that metel gets HOT when it is in the sun and can burn the H*** out of you if you don't watch out. I used to carry a big 4" round washer "til one sunny day I picked it up with my gloved hand, casually put it in my back jeans pocket and rode off! By the time I got stopped and got the thing out of my pocket I had a blistered bun!! Also, the bright color makes it far less likely that you'll ride off and leave it, as I have countless times with "home grown" metal side stand supports. (a crushed beer or soda pop can makes a great support in a pinch!

Cycle foot is available at many dealers, rallys, races, on the internet, etc. from many vendors. Cost me about $5 for three of them as I recall.

Monte

PS: bet you are DYING to get that bike under you!!!!!!!

Hey Monte, Thanks so much for the quick reply! Going to the Blessing of the Bikes up here in my neck of the woods- so will look for a "couple feet" there! That is if I can keep focused long enough from all the babes, boobs, and bikes that will be there too!
I am devouring all the info I can find on my bike and Triumph in general- Thank God for the internet... or was that Al Gore? lol
thanks again!
I hope it warms up sooon!

You'll probably work this out for yourself, but when you get your cycle-foot, tie a long bootlace or similar to it.

Then when you place it under the sidestand, loop the other end of the bootlace around the fuel petcock. That way, when you are ready to leave and you are in the saddle, you don't have to reach down to pick up the foot.

The sidestand on my 2K Adventurer cuts through hot blacktop like a jackhammer. It's really quite impressive! :-D

I carry a "divot" -- a 4" round piece of flat plastic that was an advertising gimmik from a motorcycle training outfit -- and put that under the sidestand when I park on asphalt.

You'll also note that the finer the grain of the blacktop and smoother it is, the faster that nasty little Triumph jackhammer will go through it!
