I think you are right, going from memory the specs say 1000 +/- 100 rpm. They will idle quite happily down to about 600 rpm (just lake a Hawg) but lack of oil pressure could a problem at such low revs.

Hi,

1000rpm is right.

If you wish to be pedantic, it is 1000rpm +/- 50rpm (Triumph Service Manual).

I find mine idles best around the 1050 mark rather than the 950.

having just fitted the desrestricted carb rubbers , I found that idling was lumpy - fixed it by spending some time balancing the carbs. The Triumph "within tolerance range" is quite large 25mmHg - I got mine to within 4-6 mm Hg and checked it under load . Not only smoothed out the idle big time but take off from standing was better and the whole engine just felt smoother . Amazed at the difference - I would recommend it.

Yep, same here. Seems to like it about a needle's width past 1000 rpm
