Has anyone out there put upgrade mufflers on their bike and would be willing to sell me the old ones?

I've got a 98 TBS, and I've had it since 98.

It's been in my carport for a year, unmoved. I live in on a dirt road and I'm in the Navy. It was out in the weather for about six months, because I didn't have a carport or garage to put it in. When I came back from sea, one time, I had a bunch of maintenance to do on it and it wouldn't run. I had limited funds and other projects to work on, so I got it to run and put it in my new carport to wait for the money for the new throttle cable, airbox, brakes, tires and such.

Okay, I've got that off my chest, and I feel better. I'm almost done with the maintenance/repair that needed to be done. Here's my problem:

When I had the exhaust off to change the rear brake pads, I found that the upper muffler mounting nut had, in navyspeak, "come adrift" and was rattling around inside the muffler. ("So THAT'S what that noise was...") The bolt that held the muffler on was gone. It was being held in place by the collector clamp only. I couldn't get the mounting nut out, or figure a way to get it to hold still to put a new bolt into it, so I carefully made the hole into a slot with my dremel and removed the nut. I've got a small carrige bolt with the head cut down turned sideways in the slot to hold the muffler in place until I can do a more permanent fix. I'm not proud of my shadetree engineering, but it does hold the muffler on. Of course, exhaust gas escapes through the slot. (My wife long ago declared that she would not ride on the back of my TBS, so I'm not worried about cooked feet).

So now, I'm faced with several questions:

Can I buy a new muffler for my bike?

Will the new style TBS mufflers fit my bike if I have to get them? I don't need the little heat shield on top, I never carry a passenger.

Are there any aftermarket mufflers out there that look as good or better than the stock ones, and don't cost $800?

Has anyone out there put upgrade mufflers on their bike and would be willing to sell me the old ones?

This post has become longer than I originally hoped. I'm going to copy that last question at the top, because it's the one I really want a yes answer to. Yes. I *AM* cheap.
