Hi all.. returning to the fold aftrer a 20 plus year hiatus from riding. Just got word that the dealer accepted my offer on a black 1999 legend with some neat and interesting accessories...

I'm pumped beyond words. I'm just amazed that Triumph got this so RIGHT!!!! I mean, way back when, on my old Bonneville, it seemed like I spent more time fixing it than riding it (thanks to the demonic antics of Lucas)... The fact that they replaced the electricals but kept the mechanicals and the looks is just incredible..

OK, so the only things that bug me are: the engine has had the cam shaft replaced with one from a Daytona, and that dumb decal instead of a badge.. does anyone know if there's any way of getting a proper badge on there without replacing the bloody fuel tank? Just curious.

Oh well, time to stop blathering and start riding again YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

The mechanicals are all new, that's for sure..! What do you mean by decal, a sticker?

The badge mounting holes should still be there somewhere. The tank badges are availabe from the accessories book. I think there are three styles, and they are all interchangeable. If you really want the retro look the Thunderbird badges should do it.

Early Legend tanks had decals instead of badges. Bikes equipped this way had no screw holes to mount the badges. Your best option would be to watch ebay for a used tank.

Welcome. Glad to have you with us. Take it easy if you haven't ridden in 20 years. You already know that, I am sure, but a "new" triple is tempting to push. Don't. Just let the ride come to you. You've got all summer to get the feel of being "back in the saddle again."

God bless,

Monte

I thought only 1998 models had decals on the tank.
