Other Motorcycle: I wish!
I have read numerous articles regarding 'de-baffling' mufflers.
Most refer to drilling out the baffle while some others refer to knocking the baffle out with a long bar.

Can the baffles just be knocked out?

If drilling is the go, what size holesaw is recommended? I am reading sizes from 11/16 to 7/8. 20mm or 3/4 is the sze that I am leaning towards.

What are the thoughts of those more knowledgeable than I?

The baffle must be drilled instead of knocked out. I didn't get the power increase or exhaust note I was hoping for by drilling and bought aftermarket slip-ons. Very, very pleased.

if they can be knocked out, which i highly doubt, theyre gonna be rattling around in your peashooter. that alone would drive me insane just knowing it was there.
honestly, even with an 11/16" (17.5mm) you will just barely get it past the inlet and into the baffle; going in from the back (inlet) it necks down after the flared mating flange. good luck and another good tip is when you remove the muffler, leave the bracket on and take it off by removing the passenger pegs- that way you can put the bracket in a vise and crank away on the drill.

Hi Classicly Mobile, those slip on pipes, have you got a snap of them on the bike? & did you do any carb mods?

Sorry I can't post a picture of the slip-ons. Got them from D&D. Check their web site. I installed a jet kit, vented the airbox, and installed a K&N filter.

Hi.

I drilled out the silencers on my Legend, Drilled from the engine side and used a holesaw on an extender. No problem, just lubricated the saw with grease inbetween turns, and used moderate speed on the drill.
Can't remember the size of the saw, but I'm guessing 23-24 mm.....
AND if you want to do this, make sure you loosen the silencers with the bracket ON (ie, loosen it by the passengers footpeg, just one bolt - easy) otherwise you might end up losing the nuts and bits inside the silencer, as some of the guys on various discussion forums here warned me about

btw, there's an excellent Scottish popband called The Silencers, check out their album "seconds of pleasure" (mid 90's I think)

Ok,
Drilling done with a 3/4 inch hole saw.

I cannot say that there is much difference in the sound. A little throatier, but no louder and not a noticeable difference in performance.

Maybe a bigger hole is in order.
