Anyone seen the new Norton and their future plans ? Looks like someone is following the Triumph formula. www.nortonmotorcycles.com

I can see them fitting into the vacated T-bird classic niche.
And it's being done in the U.S. !

Whilst I am hanging onto my T-bird it would be nice to see some modern Nortons or even 'Tritons' around again ! I might be tempted to add to my stable.

Not exactly the "vacated T-bird classic niche" when you consider the price tag - you could have bout a TBird several times over for the price of this exotica - they are more in the realms of the new ducati retros / specialist collectors bikes.

Well Mick give em time, I think this guy is serious. They are designing a new engine. The first 100 retro's sold like hot-cakes. An AJS-Matchless club mate went over there and convinced them to sell him one, maybe one of the few if any allowed out of the U.S. so I will get to eye-ball one soon.

My personal preference would be a retro BSA Gold Star Clubman or even a 2007 T-bird in chrome with TBS specs. !

oh they are serious, but they are also a very low volume "hand made" outfit. They have also had notorious problems delivering the product. I would not expect the price to come down much at all. Additionally these bikes run on an updated 30 year old platform (largely modded for racing) - I fear they may be less relaible than a ducati.

Got this email today. The strpped-down model approached the T-Bird/TBS/Legend. I want the one with the good bits.

"You are invited to visit www.nortonmotorcycles.com to have a look at our most recent work. The new Commando 961 features the same frame geometry and powerplant of the Signature Series bikes, kitted out with a sporting component package, dual seat, wire wheels and a $10,995 price tag."
