At the risk of sounding like a broken record...

I'm not going to ge too exited about a bike when they can only show bad CAD reditions. I'll be very surprised if they can get this thing through homologation requirements- which is something they will have to do if they want to manufacture and sell them in any quantity.

It does like nice, and I woudl love to see it come to fruition, but I see nothing in the company's track record to suggest that this bike is not going to go the same way as the new Vincent.

Looks like the whole "Indian" and "Excelsior-Henderson" debacles with an English accent.

Having a classic name and a hot bike isn't enough. Even Triumph knew that back in 1991. Anyone can build a few boutique bikes. Buliding a product line diverse enough to be a serious player in the MC market is a lot tougher.

I originally posted this but I think Mick is right, Maybe I just wanted to have a dig at Triumph as I am still peeved they dropped the Thunderbird triples.

There are a few guys here looking for good 2nd hand T-birds, sports or standard, they would buy them new if there were any but there's no 2nd hand ones around either. They're already becoming collectors items and the line only finished a couple of years ago !

I can see them them going back to the UK from the US like the Triumphs of the 50's and 60's.

A friend recently bought an 01 Adventurer, imported 2nd hand by a Triumph dealer from Japan ! One of the few Adventurers in this country. Things are getting desperate ! and don't suggest Bonnies either ! !

Theres about seven advertised in Oz at the moment. Various models. They are fairly Uncommon over here too. The TBS is even rarer. I know of only three TBS"S in Brisbane, I was trying to buy a second hand one at one stage but I couldnt find one.
I'm hanging on to my Tbird. Gunna get a sprint eventually but the Tbird will stay.

Its only the 10.k Norton that is shown in CAD rendderings, the 13k one, with the solo seat, has been a physical bike for years now.

There is a lot of scepticism whether they will make it and I hope they do so I can stick one in my garage.

They are real fine looking bikes but I can't see how they can even come close to the performance of our triples. I would think they would compare favorably with the Bonnies but the Bonnies don't compare favorably with our triples when it comes to power and speed. They have better parking lot manners but on the highway it's no contest. In summation if
Triumph took our engine and bolted in the Speedmaster frame Triumph dealers couldn't keep them in stock.

I would agree on that Flybiker, on such a twin not meeting the performance level of the TB/TBS engine and that the Speedmaster would be revolutionised with the triples engine.

The new Norton though will be in a class all of its own and will be a classic in its own right. In looks I think it bears some resemblance to the TB. Great classic lines and get up and go looks. Nortons also have great sounds but the TB/TBS without their restrictors are the best sounds of all !The Bonnies too are in their own class but I could never change to one after riding a TB. I havn't yet rode one with the 900 engine !

I hope the new Norton makes it.

I think we all hope they make it. After all most of us remember when Nortons and Triumphs were the dominant bikes. I think Mick is right about them having a hard time putting all the pieces together in order to turn out a consistent and viable product. Look how many years it took Mr. Bloor to bring back Triumph. And even then Triumph produces as many bikes in a year that Yahama produces in a month. It's one of the reasons, although in my situation it's brand loyalty, I ride a Triumph. I like the uniqueness of the brand.

7-8 years to get Triumphs rolling out of the factory- and he had the benefit of a huge personal fortune to bankroll it.

Those are cool, but i think I will buy a new Vincent Black Shadow instead when I can afford one.

I'd buy an old one if i could ever find one for sale.....
