Starters for these bikes are available form sources other than Triumph art hugely reduced prices. Just search her and you will find info about that.
Triumph used to affer starters, and I bet they still do since they are required by law to stock parts for a minumum of 10 years. The last TBS was a 2004 model so I think your SErvice manager is not fully properly informed.

TBS starters
That may be, but usually these guys are reliable. He said he had called Triumph and they told him the starter was unobtainable. The one to be installed is not going to be black. I think he said something like "annodized" something or other. Not really crazy to hear that since the bike looks showroom fresh, but need to be able to start it at least weekly during the winter.

Is the gas FRESH? It will go bad after a month or two.

Starters are made by Denso and can be bought directly from Denso USA. Somebody posted the part number a while back in the maintenance section.

+1 on having the battery checked or charge it. The week before I sold my Legend it was doing the same thing. I charged the battery and she fired right up.
