Thinking about selling my Legend
I'm thinking of selling the Legend and using some of the money to get my '53 6T fixed up as an everyday rider. What do you guys think I should ask for her? I paid $3,200 three years ago.

I sanded the mufflers then just used 2000 degree primer and paint. I just keep a can of paint around for touch ups if needed. Simple, cheap and looks great.

If it's in as good a shape as it looks, it's probably still worth $3,200. How many miles on the bike?

I suggest you keep the Legend as your primary bike and let your '53 be a long term project. As your father in law's old bike, its gonna be around a long time anyway. As I recall, his 6T was in amazing original condition and already ridable. It will definately be more unique and valuable as a 'survivor' than an amature restoration. I also believe you will quickly miss the modern features of your Legend.
I come from the opposite direction. I did a deep cosmetic restoration on a stock '72 XLH Sportster 'survivor'. Great looking classic bike in perfect condition but it was still 40yrs old. After the classic novelty eventually wore off it became impractical to actually ride as a primary bike for regular and frequent use. With drum brakes, no turn signals, generator and other antiquities, safety became a concern and as you ride it more, the once cool old technology eventually makes you long for a more modern bike. In fact, it was because of the having only my old Ironhead that I bought my '98 T-Bird so I could actually ride and keep up with Ms B on her '95 T-Bird! Last month I sold the XLH for a great price... and it's on it's way to Japan!
Sure, old classic bike are way cool but they will also let you quickly realize how absolutely fantastic and remarkable the T-Bird/Legend really is. You will soon regret ever selling yours.

Tripps,
She's sold. I saw her posted back on 11-23 in the classifieds.
