1997 T Bird..Red shade.
Hi Gents,
Am looking to get some paint made up to tidy up the mud guards on my 97 T Bird.
(All my new bits arrived today : )
Stupid question maybe, but I cant seem to find a definitive answer on google : )
Is my bike (pictured) Cardinal Red, or Cherry red? And does anyone know the paint code for the appropriate colour?
Thanks in advance,
P

Well, according to the 1997 catalogue your bike's cardinal red and silver.
Previous year was cherry red and cream or all cherry red so you should be pretty safe with cardinal red.

It's cherry red, with cream flashes.
Theres a picture of it here

There was a link with all the Triumph paints and paint codes but it's gone. Has anyone got a copy of it?

Hi,
I agree, your Thunderbird looks to be in Cherry Red with the Cream flashes.
It looks as though Triumph have taken down the paint code page, but this looks to be a copy?:- http://www.nittanyroadriders.com/NRR...PaintCodes.htm

Yes, sorry Pete, I didn't look hard enough at the picture to see the cream and was swayed by the 1997!
And to make it worse I was going to say that you sometimes have to ignore the year of registration because the bike may be a late registration (as yours is!) or as Triumph have done with the Thunderbird Sport for example, started producing the next model year's colours early. My bike for example was registered in October 2003 so really should have been orange and black but is actually in the 2004 colours of black and yellow.
This is original as I have the original invoice when the bike was purchased and says black and yellow.
Glad you're sorted anyhow.

As Jaguartvr says the web-page with the Triumph colour codes has gone which is a bummer. I've had the shortcut for that in my favorites for ages.
But they are in this thread with some very useful information. Hopefully I have redeemed myself!

ah no redemption required man : )
Very confusing colour selection over the years! I would have guessed cardinal, but cleared up now.
Thanks all, appreciated as always.
