Are the Thunderbird "Off Road" mufflers much louder than stock? Mild or Harleyesque?

Deeper and louder than stock but nothing like Harleys, not to loud in my opinion and opinions of listeners. Most people love the sound of off road.
I would not go back and they are not too load to attract police attention.

When I first put them on, I thought they were pretty loud compared to the stock pipes but after starting my old Bonny up next to it, I would say the volume was comparable. After riding with some harley boys this weekend and to/from work yesterday, I would say they are very reasonable. The only time they really roar is under high acceleration/high revs.
Overall it is an upgrade I am very happy with -- now I just need to find time to access the mixture screws and replace the restricted inlet rubbers.

As they say across the pond.... SPOT ON assessment! I could never go back either. The bike sounds awesome when cruising on a highway around 4500 RPM.

I agree - never go back. The slash cut off roads sound gives the ride an intriguing feel. Its as if the vibrations from the exhaust are perfectly tuned to your own natural frequency. I find that at 3500 in 5th on a twisting country road you can become almost mesmerized (could be dangerous).
As Tom said, faster is louder but you will love it.

They are not loud enough to be offensive, certainly not Harley loud- in fact I'd say just right.

When I first got my bike I couldn't wait to find someone I could trust to ride it, just so I could hear what the pipes sounded like off the bike. Was I ever pleased when I did hear them from a distance!!
I too wouldn't have anything else now, that great sound makes riding even better.

I bought a set of Triumph slash cuts off e-bay and i have to say, they made a fantastic difference to the performance of my bike, however they are bloody loud!!
Looking thro the pipes there appears to be no restriction at all, and i have been wondering if this is normal,my old harley had kerker pipes with competition baffles which just took the savage edge of the sound, any ideas?
Like the other guys say....no going back to stock!!!
Ride Safe,
Buzz. :-g

Not obnoxiously loud, but louder than stock. I'm riding with the peashooters, and I had a friend who rides a Harley tell me he understands why they are called "Trumpets," definately a distinctive sounding bike.
