i just noticed the other night my tach is only lit on right side so i guess i need a bulb but i remember awhile back someone here said dealer item only because of the watage (amps) if not carefull could burn up unit so how much are these special dealer only bulbs ?? the part that gets me is last sept-oct i brought the bike to dealer for oil leak and noticed on the way at night it was lit only on right side but dealer said it was fine and shur enough it was now after sitting idle for winter sleep it is blown for shure well it,s my problem now no waranty is it a hard job or just loosen those acorn nuts and replace it

no problem to do it yourself.undo the nuts,push the whole unit up a couple of inches to gain access and change the bulb.

Here's the Honda part # for the 1.7 watt (larger) bulb.

And yep, I can verify that higher watt bulbs are available most anywhere, but they will melt some of the plastic parts inside the gauges.
