Greetings all!

Well I've been running searchs on the site all morning and haven't seen this one before so here we go!

Was sitting out back admiring the new ride yet again last night. It was that perfect dusk lighting and the lucifer orange was showing beautifully. I walked up to get an offending critter off of the pipes when I noticed that I could SEE cross hatched threads in the sidewall of the rear Metzler ME Z2. Having never been able to see the construction of a tire through the sidewall I was a little concerned. It's almost as if the sidewall is thin/translucent enough to see through or that the cross hatched threads are close to the surface. The separation in the crosshatced squares was about one-half to one full inch.

Anyone else ever notice this? Anyone else have the ME Z2 rear tires to go check?

Odd...

I've just replaced the Metzlers with Avons and still have the old MEZ2 to look at.

I've got a mesh pattern on one side of the tire that's pretty tiny -- a mesh of diamonds about 1/8" by 1/4".

It looks more like some sort of molding pattern from the tire manufacturing process than anything else.

My 2K Adventurer had ME33 Laser on the front and the MEZ2 on the rear as the stock tires -- largely because of the odd sized (19") front wheel. I couldn't ride much last year (so I only got about 12,000 miles out of them) but towards the end of last season they got pretty slippery. I think the composition hardened more than anything else

I've gone to AM21 and AM22 Avons this year and I'll (hopefully!) be able to try them out this weekend.
