Here is a before and after image of some changes that I made to my 1998 Thunderbird Sport. Let me know what you think.

Also I wanted to say that there is a ton of awesome information that I was able to glean off of this forum from others that have done work and modifications on their bikes before me and I couldn't have done it with out all of the great information that was provided by this great community. So, Thanks.

Wow, you did a great job of restoring it. Not a fan of yellow myself, but it still looks good.

Did you buy it as a write off or did the insurance pay to have it fixed up?

Welcome to the forum :).

I do not approve of what you did to your bike, but it is your bike to ruin. Some of us think of ourselves as caretakers of the bikes for the next generation, and we pay money for the privilage. Also, I see you are from the San Francisco Bay Area. We have a bad reputation as it is. Are you trying to make things worse? Will you please change your location to some place like Arkansas or West Virginia.

coming from someone who has silver tribal/flames painted on a thunderbird, i don't think you can argue that his bike looks good or not.

the brushed metal look, in my opinion, looks great. I get that there are purists in here, but the time and skill that went into building that bike is something to admire.

Well gatta say I was not expecting the type of flack that I'm catching on this. But meh, I love the platform that the TBS provides, but I just am not that into riding around on something painted "arrest me yellow" or that, to me at least, looks like a bumble bee. I like Cafe style bikes and so I turned it into one that more fits my style.

As for the pipes that a few of you have asked about, initially I ran open pipes, but after getting pulled over twice for them I put in a 4.5" internal baffle in each pipe. This dampened that sound substantially, but the heavy baffling was causing to much back pressure and was causing me to substantially loose top speed. So I witched back to the original mufflers, though I did paint them black, except for the upper part of the cone and the heat guard which was left silver.

jeeze! tough crowd!!

I think the bike looks sick..kinda rat rod / cafe. looks badass.
i can understand why everyone is upset about it though, these being such rare bikes.. my 2000 adventurer looks pppretttyy rough, and i still can't bring myself to chop the rear fender and am reluctant to paint it (tank has some bad chips in it).

These bikes are beautiful machines stock, but can really look extraordinary customized. to each his own

rooster, take it to the cafe section, they'll probably love it

never realized everyone was so prude here.

Prude ?

If you read the last sentence of the op it says"Let me know what you think" I haven't been a member here for very long but most members here have been very helpful with solving problems and making improvements with these bikes.Sometimes you have to be careful of what you ask for,you just might get it.:)
